The Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Lusaka is a four-year undergraduate law degree designed to provide students with a strong foundation in legal knowledge while developing practical skills required for legal research, writing, argumentation, advocacy and problem-solving.
The programme goes beyond the conventional law degree, with courses designed to strengthen students' ability to find, interpret and apply legal sources, construct clear written and oral legal submissions, evaluate competing legal positions and approach legal problems critically.
Students study a broad range of legal areas, including criminal law, constitutional law, contract law, tort law, land law, administrative law, family and succession law, commercial law, human rights, employment law, legal writing and advocacy, company law, insolvency law, environmental law, international law, intellectual property law and international trade law.
The programme is suitable for individuals seeking to develop careers in legal practice, public service, corporate and commercial environments, legal research, advocacy and other law-related fields. The degree is accredited by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) and recognised by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) and the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE). Graduates can proceed to the Legal Practitioners Qualification Examination (LPQE) course offered by ZIALE.
Entry requirements: Applicants should possess a Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent with at least five (5) credits, including English Language. Applicants with alternative qualifications may be considered for exemptions on a case-by-case basis. All applicants are required to submit a Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA) Certificate of Verification of academic qualifications at the time of application.
50% Scholarship: Applicants can receive a 50% scholarship when they enter “RBS” under the referral field during their application.
